About The Role

As a Design Engineer, you will:
  • contribute to the growth and profitability of the company by providing professional technical solutions and engineering support
  • ensure a constantly high level of product knowledge, service and administration to ultimately deliver to the client the most superior product and solution
  • creatively identify feasible and potential solutions for projects through feedback and communications with clients, the sales team and on-site investigation

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Technical

  • Conduct site surveys and gather relevant information from clients in order to come up with the desired design or solution
  • Prepare detailed product specification and layout design
  • Determine the feasibility of projects from a design perspective then liaise with internal stakeholders including sales, finance and warehouse teams to ensure cooperation, consistency and follow through to handover to project management team
  • Consult with clients on their warehouse requirements and provide a solution to their needs Liaise with sales team to prepare required drawings and solutions
  • Process layouts with accuracy and professionalism
  • Liaise with manufacturer on designs to determine cost estimates
  • Liaise with sales staff to confirm designs and cost estimates

Sales & Marketing

  • Manage existing client accounts and build relationships with their design teams
  • Provide after sales support to Project Manager
  • Achieve set budgeted KPI’s and improve bottom line
  • Maximise customer satisfaction and the company’s business reputation
  • Ensure relevant administration is completed and follows company policy and procedure
  • Ensure target margins are met for each project with reasonable and cost-worthy solutions
  • Help create an environment that supports business culture and values and fosters a customer driven, can-do attitude and promotes improvement and innovation

Selection Criteria

It is essential that you have:
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in the design and estimation of racking systems (fresh graduates or students about to graduate are encouraged to apply)
  • Structural Engineering Qualification as minimum, or relevant qualifications
Preferable skills/experience and personal attributes:
  • Previous experience in shop fitting, warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, building or construction projects
  • Previous project management experience
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of contemporary design and/or structural engineering
  • Experience working with and a knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and Regulations including seismic and wind ratings
  • Previous estimating and budgeting experience
  • Experience working with customer driven organisations and demonstrated customer relationship skills
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within an organisation
  • Highly developed time management skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • Flexible and adaptable, with very good personal organisation skills
  • Proficient in AutoCad or other automated design packages
  • Punctual and well presented
  • Previous experience utilising MYOB
  • Desirable: Bilingual – English and Mandarin
